Below is a summary of URA Draft Master Plan 2019 for your reference and feedback:
• City living to bring in life after office hours:
• Increase in gross plot ratio within CBD to encourage the conversion of existing office
developments to hotel and residential uses
• Boost live-in population to rejuvenate the city:
• Increase housing variety and amenities in sites such as Downtown, Marina South and Rochor
• Greater vibrancy and public spaces:
• Inject unique, short-term uses for vacant state properties and land
• Transit-priority corridor (Robinson Road):
• Encourage active mobility and ease of transit Eg: more space can be given to buses, cycling paths and pedestrian walkways
• Areas of focus: Anson Road, Cecil Street, Shenton Way, Robinson Road and Tanjong Pagar areas.
Dakota Crescent:
• Future public housing will be planned with consideration of the six retained Singapore Improvement Trust blocks nearby and the courtyard space, with ideas from heritage groups, former residents and community leaders woven into the future plans
Farrer Park:
• New housing will give more options for homebuyers looking to live near the city
• Familiar landmarks such as the Farrer Park Swimming Pool and former boxing gym, will be
retained to celebrate the sporting heritage of the area.
East Coast:
• A park will be built along the old sea walls, which are characteristic of East Coast Park, as a
reminder of its heritage.
• New Bayshore precinct will have two MRT stations, Bayshore and Bedok South MRT stations. It will also be a car-lite precinct, prioritising walking and cycling with a public transit street lined with shops, food outlets and amenities.
Changi Region: A Vibrant Live-Work-Play-Learn Ecosystem Around the Airport
• Changi Aviation Park: New aviation-related industries
• Waterfront District: recreational and tourism possibilities
• SUTD & Changi Business Park: Innovative lifestyle business district
• Changi East Urban District: Innovative lifestyle business centre at the doorstep of the future Terminal 5
• Objective: make underground plans transparent to developers and building owners.
• make better use of our land is to free up surface land for people-centric uses by relocating utilities, transport, storage and industrial facilities underground.
• Areas: Marina, Jurong and Punggol areas
Rail Corridor to be linked as continuous stretch, spur renewal of neighbouring towns
• Rail Corridor, which runs from Tanjong Pagar to Woodlands ready by 2021
• linking of the former railway line - which has about one million people living within one km of the 24 km stretch - will connect communities and breathe new life into neighbouring estates such as Queenstown, Buona Vista, Beauty World and Kranji
• New housing at Queensway and Tanglin Halt, and new business park developments at one-north will be introduced in the area over the next few years
• Creating more opportunities: the Singapore Racecourse can expand its role to become a new recreation hub while Sungei Kadut to house the new Agri-Food Innovation Park
Bringing jobs closer to homes with three "gateways"
• Three major economic gateways in the west (Jurong Lake District), north (Woodlands Industrial Centre) and east (Tampines Regional Centre) will serve as major employment hubs.
Changi Region being more than just an employment hub
• Changi Region will expand on development in recreation and tourism aside from employment
• With the opening of Jewel Changi Airport and Terminal 5, there could be new offices, smart work centres, flexible conference rooms and halls, hotels and serviced apartments, set amidst lushly landscaped public spaces
• Development will take place in phases, starting with the former Pasir Panjang Power District, Keppel Club and Mount Faber in the next 5 to 10 years.
• With Keppel Club lease expiring in 2021, the site will also be redeveloped for waterfront housing
• Improve Accessibility
• the new Pasir Panjang Linear Park will connect West Coast Park to Labrador Nature Reserve, and offer park users a glimpse of Pasir Panjang’s working container port and Power District up close.
Next-Generation Neighbourhoods
Future residential precincts will continue to be sustainable, green, community-centric and car-lite, with easy access to a range of public spaces and amenities. Amenities will also be located in one-stop centres similar to Our Tampines Hub to make it easier for residents to shop, dine and engage in family-bonding activities under one roof.
