A new beacon will replace Pearl Bank Apartments in Outram
Developer CapitaLand acquired Pearl Bank Apartments for S$728 million through a private treaty collective sale (en-bloc) in February 2018, translating to a land price of about S$1,515 per square foot per plot ratio (psf ppr), after factoring in a S$201.4 million premium for a lease top-up to a fresh 99-year lease.
On 14 May 2019, property developer CapitaLand unveiled its design for One Pearl Bank, a development that will take the place of Pearl Bank Apartments, which it bought for S$728 million. One Pearl Bank comprises two curved 39-storey towers linked at the roof by sky bridges and will also feature a vertical sky allotment garden for urban farming.
The upcoming One Pearl Bank will look good from any angle. At night, its crown will light up like a circular halo and the structure will truly transform into a beacon as it begins to glow and take on an ethereal quality.

A beacon comprising two curved towers linked at the roof by sky bridges will replace the Pearl Bank Apartments landmark in Outram. The new design, with its "clear and simple form", ensures the continuity of a distinct punctuator on Pearl's Hill.
One Pearl Bank is set on an elevated ground which is an architectural tradition that goes back centuries - a 10th century Chinese painter Li Cheng's masterpiece depicts a solitary temple, perched on a hill and surrounded by a monumental mountain landscape.
The slender, curved facades create a light and airy effect, providing ample space for residents and onlookers to look out and through the towers to admire the stunning views atop the hill.

Future Development At Clarke Quay
The upcoming One Pearl Bank will house 774 residential apartments - almost triple the original 288 units on a land plot ratio of 8:1. The unit types will range from studio apartments to penthouses, from about 430 sq ft to 2,800 sq ft.
One Pearl Bank will be a 39-storey condominium, to be ready by 2023. This 99-year leasehold development - One Pearl Bank will stand tall at 178m nestled on top of Pearl's Hill, it will be the tallest residential development in the Outram-Chinatown district, outstripping the Pinnacle @ Duxton which stands at 156m.
The slender, curved facades of the new design are light, airy and hug the perimeter of the plot, providing ample space for residents and onlookers to breathe and look out and through the two towers.
One Pearl Bank's design sites the carpark underground and lifts the apartments 21m off the ground and will better showcase and revive interest in the under-utilised and relatively inaccessible Pearl's Hill City Park. The public park is a little known lookout point which is home to mature tembusu trees and a pond. It is currently obscured on street level by the apartment block and its carpark podium.
This is the first time that a series of sky allotments has been arrayed vertically in a high-rise residential tower, according to CapitaLand, adding that it would support urban farming and promote community bonding. Additionally, around 500 trees and more than 135,000 shrubs, plants and flowers will be planted throughout One Pearl Bank. A landscape path linking it to the adjacent and under utilised Pearl’s Hill City Park will also be available.

Cantilevering from the edge of the two towers, One Pearl Bank’s sky allotments are placed every four floors to allow for adequate sunlight for plant growth. Visible from the city centre, these green spaces visually reinforce Singapore’s brand as a garden city. These allotments are also a form of “productive greenery” that diversifies the sources of landscaping in One Pearl Bank beyond landscaped paths, sky terraces and green balconies.
An innovative approach to community bonding, these allotment gardens will encourage neighbours to interact with one another and build relationships through a shared activity. Residents can enjoy the process of gardening and tending to their plants, or simply enjoy being outside looking at the views. In short, each sky allotment forms a community in the sky.
